SEO and Your Landing Page

You will find lots of different help and advice concerning SEO and how to do it yourself.  Among this advice can be misleading information, or just data that is old fashioned and no longer applicable. One of these is the myth of the importance of having an excellent landing page.

While having excellent pages on your site is indeed necessary, the idea of a single landing page really isn’t essential or ideal when thinking about SEO.  Having a ‘Home’ Page is needed, but you should never make every single back link to go directly to the home landing page only.

Create Many Backlink Opportunities for Your SEO Campaign

When you place your back links across the web and on your social media sites for example, you do not want people to land on the home page only.  If someone doesn’t find the information they want instantly on that page there is a high chance that they will simply back out of your site and go elsewhere.  The other thing to remember is that your social fans and followers will get fed up of landing on the same page time and time again.  In fact, they will probably stop clicking at all after the first few times.

You want each page that you link to, to grab the reader’s attention.  Not only that, you want to encourage the reader to spend even more time on the site. Making sure you have a menu that is easy to use, and the important pieces of information that can secure you a deal or make the reader contact you.

All Pages Are Potential Landing Pages

When you are creating SEO content and building your website the best way to think is to consider every single page as a landing page.  Your site will have lots of URLs all of which can be linked to offsite and onsite in your blog or web content.  These will all make great landing pages and the more you create, the more opportunities you have for advertising your site across the Internet.
